Technology has become an integral part of our daily lives, and it&#39;s important for elementary and middle school students to be fluent in its use.&nbsp;It provides a wealth of information and resources that can help students learn in innovative and engaging ways while preparing students for the future job market, where digital skills are highly valued&nbsp;in an&nbsp;increasingly digital world. Future-Ready Students Wiseburn Unified School District has successfully implemented a 1-to-1 Chromebook environment in grades 1-8. Kindergarten and transitional kindergarten students utilize a combination of Chromebooks and iPads for digital learning. The Wiseburn Unified School District officially opened the new Wiseburn Sports Complex on Friday, April 24, as hundreds of community members looked on under an afternoon sun, marking the completion of a project years in the making. Located at the corner of 135th Street and Aviation Boulevard, the state-of-the-art complex, funded by Measure EE, features expansive field space designed for NFHS Softball, Little League, and NFHS Soccer. The site also includes new parking, restrooms, storage facilities, and a warming kitchen to support events and gatherings. District leaders, board members, staff, and community partners turned out for the ribbon-cutting ceremony, joined by Assemblymember Tina McKinnor, Ara Ann from Supervisor Holly Mitchell&#39;s office, Hawthorne Police Department Sergeant Sean Kemp, all WUSD Board of Trustee members, the Citizens&#39; Bond Oversight Committee, and members of the Wiseburn Education Foundation. The ribbon cutting marks not just the completion of a facility, but the beginning of a new chapter for Wiseburn students, one filled with opportunity, teamwork, and school pride. &quot;Our playfields and athletic spaces are, in every sense, our largest classrooms. And today, we open the newest and most remarkable one yet,&quot; said Superintendent Dr. Blake Silvers during remarks at the ribbon-cutting. &quot;This complex is the result of years of planning, the trust our community placed in us through Measure EE, and the determination of so many people who refused to let obstacles get in the way of something this special. It belongs to our students, our families, our athletes, and this entire community.&quot; From the demolition of the old middle school location, to early construction milestones, to final completion, the project moved forward with strong momentum. Now, this future-forward facility elevates athletic opportunities for all Wiseburn students and the community. Made possible through the support of Measure EE and the dedication of countless community members and district staff, the Wiseburn Sports Complex now stands as a vibrant hub for athletics, engagement, and community life. It ensures that students experiencing homelessness have the right to a stable and uninterrupted education. Under the Act, homeless students are able to attend either their school of origin or the local school where they are currently living,&nbsp;and access the same programs and services available to their housed peers, including free meals, extracurricular activities, and special education. This Act is vital in supporting the educational success of students who are experiencing homelessness. School districts must appoint a local liaison to assist homeless families and ensure that students are connected to necessary resources. I hope you had a joyful and relaxing summer and are as eager as we are to begin another exciting school year together. To our new families&mdash;welcome to Success Learning Center and FUTURES Plus ! If we haven&rsquo;t met yet, I&rsquo;m Sarah Green, proud Administrator for Success Learning Center and Futures Plus. This is my second year serving as principal and my fifth year in the Wiseburn Unified School District. Before stepping into this role, I was a school psychologist for eight years. &nbsp;I remain deeply committed to our mission of putting students first&mdash;academically, socially, and emotionally.
