Vander Lans AWTF WRD Robert W. Goldsworthy Desalter Groundwater Contamination Prevention Program Other Projects and Programs WRD Robert W. Goldsworthy Desalter The Robert W. Goldsworthy Desalter located in the City of Torrance Was commissioned in 2001 and expanded in 2018. This facility can treat up to 5 million gallons per day (mgd) of brackish groundwater extracted from the West Coast Groundwater Basin. The plant is owned by WRD and operated by the City of Torrance. The treated water produced by this facility is used as potable water in the City of Torrance. WRD's Groundwater Desalter works primarily through the use of reverse osmosis treatment. Salty brackish groundwater extracted from wells is forced through reverse osmosis membranes to remove the salts in the water. The water is then disinfected and the pH level is adjusted to create fresh, potable water. Robert W. Goldsworthy Foulant Investigation & Performance Assessment WRD has recently completed an assessment of the influent water quality and ensuing impact on facility operations at the Robert W. Goldsworthy Desalter Facility. A copy of the Water Quality Investigation Memorandum and Pretreatment Recommendations Memorandum, produced during this investigation are available for download below. Groundwater Basins Master Plan (2016) The District, in coordination with other basin stakeholders, developed the Groundwater Basins Master Plan (GBMP). The intent of the plan is to provide a single reference document for parties operating within and maintaining the West Coast and Central groundwater basins. The GBMP complements the efforts of WRD’s Water Independence Now (WIN) program by identifying projects and programs to enhance basin replenishment, increase reliability of groundwater resources, improve and protect groundwater quality, and ensure that the groundwater supplies are suitable for beneficial uses. The Water Replenishment District’s Education Program offers an array of programs featuring interactive student activities that touch on interesting topics such as the importance of groundwater, water treatment, and resource conservation. If you would like any information regarding our Education Program please contact Monica Sijder at [email protected] . WRD's Education Program includes: ARC Field Trip Program Annual Student Art Calendar Contest Annual Groundwater Festival In-Classroom Visits Science Nights Career Fairs Health Fairs Eco Gardener Classes ARC FIELD TRIP PROGRAM The WRD Albert Robles Center for Water Recycling & Environmental Learning ( ARC ) encompasses an advanced water treatment facility, a fully digital learning center, and water-efficient demonstration gardens. K-12th grade classes are invited to participate in a facilitated field trip that immerses students into a dynamic and interactive environment. The program builds on visitors’ prior knowledge of, and everyone’s daily connection to, the water cycle with specific attention to groundwater and recycled water. Students are challenged to analyze the information presented and use critical thinking skills to propose conservation and engineering solutions to the problems or issues presented. ARC also incorporates career development in which students and teachers will gain exposure to, and exploration of, water careers with varying levels of educational requirements. To schedule a field trip please complete the following form : ARC FIELD TRIP SCHEDULE & APPLICATION To be added to the ARC Field Trip Waitlist please complete the following form: ARC Field Trip Waitlist WRD ARC Field Trip Flyer_Print.pdf Check out a virtual tour of the Albert Robles Center! http://arc360.wrd.org/ STUDENT ART CONTEST The WRD Water Awareness Calendar helps educate people about the importance of water and the role they can play in water conservation every day by changing their habits at home and at school. Every year we run the Annual Student Art Contest and receive hundreds of submissions and pick 23 winners including 1 grand prize winner. The winners have their artwork published in the calendar and the grand prize winner has their artwork on the cover of the calendar. Winners also receive certificates of recognition, printed copies of the calendar and other fun prizes! All participants receive a certificate of participation and a copy of the calendar which are sent out to their schools. Please visit the contest page for full contest rules and to see our winners from this year! www.wrd.org/student-art-contest TEACHER GRANT PROGRAM In support of the Student Art Contest, WRD is pleased to offer teachers a Water Education Teacher Grant for environmental education in their classrooms. Teachers with the most participation in this the Student Art Contest receive a small grant* to spend on water education materials. (*Grants are provided by our generous Art Contest sponsors.) A gift from the Global Data Registry

When the Global Data Registry crawled https://www.wrd.org/, we found no structured data — the language AI systems use to understand and describe a business online.

Schema is how ChatGPT, Google, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity know what your business does and how to describe you accurately to your customers. Without it, AI systems are guessing.

The most important field in this block is sameAs — a verified edge connecting your website to your permanent record at the Global Data Registry. This is a free, confirmed link to a real verified source. It costs nothing and gives your website a confirmed node in the graph that AI systems traverse when building answers about your business.

Copy the block below and paste it into the <head> of your website. Or drop it into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini and ask it to extend it with your full business details — that is the fastest path to a complete schema record.

▶   What is schema?

Schema is a standard vocabulary maintained at schema.org that lets websites describe themselves in a language machines can read. When you add schema to your website, you are telling AI systems, search engines, and knowledge graphs exactly what your business is and how it connects to the rest of the web.
